An Update on Counseling Services in 2021 & Beyond

Ten years ago, I completed a master’s degree in Christian Counseling and began meeting with families, couples, men, women, and youth to promote growth and thriving even in the midst of anxiety, depression, relationship issues, stress, and other forms of suffering. It’s been fascinating to reflect upon a decade’s experience of the Lord a) ministering through me to His people, b) illuminating Biblical and counseling knowledge, and c) revealing significant issues that are taking place in culture and in the spiritual realm. While His character never changes, His work is never stagnant. The following outline will show you what my counseling ministry now includes for your needs.

Virtual Services

Most of my counseling appointments take place via video conference and phone calls. This enables students, busy professionals, out-of-towners, moms with napping babies, those with health conditions, etc. to benefit from counseling without having to leave home or take time dealing with traffic. Rates are $80 an hour.

Mobile Services

I offer a few different mobile counseling options as well. This enables me to really customize my practice for your unique needs.

1.In-Home Visits & Workshops: When virtual appointments are not the best plan for you, we can meet in your home, at a local cafe, or on a limited basis in my home office. In-home also works well to meet with some of you a first time before transitioning to virtual appointments. Also, extended counseling sessions in your home can work great when multiple people are involved, you need a long session, it’s better to meet in-person, there are in-home dynamics to consider, etc. Rates vary based on time, etc.

“Having a workshop was helpful because we could have consecutive sessions back-to-back, having extended time focusing on a specific topic and goal before moving on to something else.”

2. Out-of-Town Visits: When I am working with several students or families in the same town, I can schedule back-to-back meetings and spend a day working with you in your location. Some towns I’ve worked in are: Athens, Birmingham, Dahlonega, and Nashville, and I’m open to other areas per request. Normal rates apply when I’m already there for multiple appointments.

3. NEW! Purposeful Home & Room Design: I can respectfully enter into your room, office, or entire home to help you create spaces of peace, productivity, and praise. This type of design involves listening to your heart, working with your own belongings, considering personal obstacles that have been in your way, and praying for the atmosphere to be filled with the love of God so you’re ready to shine your light to the wounded world. Rates vary based on time, etc., and your design can include:

  • arranging your bedrooms with God’s intentions for sleep, recovery, marital intimacy, and family bonding
  • preparing teaching nooks or in-home Bible classrooms for moms and dads to intentionally counter worldly messages
  • assigning cozy areas for the purpose of nurturing one another, connecting, listening to music, telling stories, playing, and laughing
  • making quiet areas for concentration and unplugging from technology in order to stir the imagination, sit in long thoughts, engage in deep learning, develop new skills, and cultivate spiritual gifts
  • designating sacred spaces to be still and know that He is God, pursuing outdoor living areas to meet with Him in nature for worship, styling prayer closets covered with maps, family trees, prayer lists, etc. to promote intercession for the lost and those who need breakthrough, etc.
  • opening up certain spaces in your home for inviting others in, especially for meaningful fellowship and sharing the gospel
  • organizing rooms to have more productive systems for those struggling to reach educational and spiritual milestones

“I loved your idea to organize my room to reach my goals and I couldn’t have started without you.”

Speaking & Small Groups

Your bible studies and small groups provide the opportunity to gather with people in a similar stage of life, to grow closer to Christ collaboratively, and to relate to one another over similar dilemmas. Working together in that kind of setting can facilitate collective support as you cope with hardship and learn new skills for advancing.

“I didn’t feel so alone once I heard others in the group sharing their struggles and Jen talking about some ways we can work together to help the next generation.”

I, Jen…

  • long to be a faithful minister of Christ on your behalf
  • have great zeal for you
  • labor fervently for you in prayers,
    • that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will, in spiritual wisdom and understanding
    • that you may walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, pleasing to Him, bearing fruit, and increasing in knowledge of Him
    • for you to be strengthened according to His might, for endurance and patience
    • that you may stand mature and assured
