Celebrating Easter Like It's Christmas

Celebrating Easter like it’s Christmas

The world makes it easy to go big for Christmas. But to celebrate Easter, you have to literally and figuratively push past all the bright yellow spring chicks and St. Patrick’s Day green to find a cross or a “Happy Easter” sign here and there. Yet, the empty tomb is as important to believers as the manger. Choosing to participate in Lent was our first step, and now we can begin to prepare for Easter Sunday. In my home, I enjoyed setting up a wooden Easter scene and bringing out some children’s Resurrection story books to surround ourselves with reminders of our risen Christ. Others I know set out purple linens and a crown of thorns. Ways I’m further getting ready are: looking at church service times for Holy Week, trying out recipes for Resurrection rolls and sugar cookies, continuing my Lenten commitments, filling Easter baskets (no age is too old!), and making plans to feast with friends and family in a few weeks! After all, when He had risen, “Jesus met them saying, ‘Rejoice!’(Matthew 28:9)

With hope,
