The Need for Purity

The next generation has a significant need for purity. The bad news below is very real; and that the good news below is very true.

The Bad News

  • Substantial, suggestive marketing has convinced many youth and singles that sex is very important to get involved with early and frequently.
  • The number of years a child can remain innocent is getting fewer and fewer.
  • Doctors hold the secret for just how many people alive today are walking around with sexually transmitted infections.
  • Healthy heterosexual attraction has become utterly confused by homosexual experimentation and promotion. (For more, click here.)
  • Many teenagers (guys and gals) falsely believe that sexting and viewing pornography is “not that bad” because “everyone else is doing it” or “at least it’s not the same as actually having sex.”
  • Christian, married men and women are finding themselves involved in pornography, many not admitting the serious consequences and addictive nature of it.
  • Multitudes of young people are looking for fulfillment in sexuality, but instead of finding it there, they are suffering from epidemic rates of anxiety and depression. (For more, click here.)
  • Lacking in knowledge, people are scared of purity. (For more, click here.)

The Good News

  • Humans are sexual beings, but not only so. You are so much more than your sexuality.
  • Young people who wait for marriage to have sex demonstrate greater strength of character and better relationship skills than those who believe that premarital sex is “no big deal.”
  • God knew what He was doing when He commanded sexuality to be expressed and enjoyed within marriage.
  • Many couples who report having high quality, lasting marriages are those who did not have multiple sexual partners before marriage, did not cohabitate before marriage, and did not engage in the practices of “hooking up” and “experimentation.”
  • Real relating, real honoring, and real sexual encounters, not unholy fantasy, is what God’s Word calls and enables a man and woman to have in marriage.
  • There is great hope, healing, and joy to be found in the purity Jesus longs to give you.

Place a very high value on purity. Put it up there in your top priorities with faith, family, passion, career, and other values.

Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. (2 Tim. 2:22)

With hope,

Jen
